If this is officially confirmed, Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Ressha-hen would become the second Japanese film (and also the second anime film) in US box office history to dominate at the weekly box office. The first film to achieve this feat was Pokémon: The First Movie.
On the other hand, Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Ressha-hen is now the third highest grossing anime film in the history of the United States (without considering inflation), reaching 34.11 million dollars accumulated at the box office until May 2. . With this figure it surpassed the 30.71 million dollars of Dragon Ball Super: Broly, and is only behind the 85.74 million dollars of Pokémon: The First Movie and the 43.75 million of Pokémon 2000 - The Movie.
The film opened in Japanese theaters on October 16, achieving the highest grossing at the global box office in its opening weekend.
