At the sixtieth edition of the Japan Science Fiction Convention (also known as the Nihon SF Taikai ), the list of nominees for the fifty-second edition of the Seiun Awards was revealed on April 24. The list of nominees in the "Media Category" includes:
- Deca-Dence (anime series).
- NHK Drama Kishibe Rogan wa Ugokanai (serie live-action).
- Eizouken ni wa Te wo Dasu na! ( Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! ) ( Serie live-action).
- ID: INVADED (anime series)
- BNA: Brand New Animal (anime series).
- Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Ressha-hen (película de anime).
- Precure Miracle Leap Movie: Minna to no Fushigi na Ichinichi (película de anime).
- Kuutei Dragons (Drifting Dragons) (serie de anime).
- Maeda Kensetsu Fantasy Eigyoubu (película live-action).
This year's awards will again be separated into nine categories, which include: "Japanese Novel", "Japanese Short Story", "Translated Foreign Novel", "Translated Foreign Short Story", "Media", Comic "," Art ", "Nonfiction" and "Free Category". Each category has between six and ten nominees, who were chosen from among projects released between January 1 and December 31, 2020 in Japan. Those registered for the convention can vote online between April 24 and June 15 of this year, and the results will be revealed at the main event on August 21 and 22.
The “Seiun Shou” literally translates to the “Nebula Awards,” but the Nihon SF Taikai Seiun Awards are more similar to the Hugo Awards , as the attendees of each respective convention are the ones who vote for the winners. There is another set of awards and, like the Hugo Awards , the Seiun Awards recognize any form of speculative fiction, including science fiction and related materials.
