Manga author Hiroya Oku ( GANTZ, Inuyashiki ) announced on his Twitter account that he is selling digital artworks as NFT ( Non-Fungible Tokens, meaning digital assets ). His first work up for auction is a color redrawing of a frame from his first manga, Hen , from 1998. Oku blatantly describes it as " the world's first censored nipple frame ."

The minimum bid is a “wrapped Ether” (WETH) token, priced at US $ 3,088.25. The sale will end on September 29, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. (Japan Time). Oku also explained on Twitter that he had previously sold his physical artworks through charity auctions on Yahoo! Auctions . On those occasions, he was asked by foreign fans if there was any way to buy his works from outside of Japan. His solution was to put his works on the digital asset market (NFT).

Hiroya Oku's GANTZ manga ran between 2000 and 2013. The work inspired a television anime adaptation, an animated feature film, two live-action films, and two spin-off manga. His Inuyashiki manga series ended in its 10th volume in September 2017. His GIGANT manga recently ended serialization, and the manga's 10th and final compiled volume will be published in December in Japan.
