Following
the release of the second film in the " Mononoke " franchise , it was
announced that the third film, titled " Mononoke the Movie:
Chapter III - Snake God ", will be released during the Spring
2026 season . The release included a promotional visual, and listed
details about the production and voice cast.
The
original series was produced by Toei Animation Studios , directed by Kenji
Nakamura , with character designs by Takashi Hashimoto and
music composed by Yasuharu Takanashi , consisting of twelve
episodes and released in July 2007. A manga adaptation by Yaeko
Ninagawa was published in Square Enix 's Young Gangan magazine between
August 2007 and August 2008.
