Trigger defended the loli of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners

Trigger studios , in charge of the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime, have dismissed CD Projekt Red 's concerns about Rebecca 's character . In a live stream, a CD Projekt Red producer admitted that Rebecca's particularly childish design caused problems during the production of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners , but the studios decided to stick with her original design regardless.

According to the developers of CD Projekt Red , the studio went so far as to say that “ the loli should stay ” when part of the company voted to completely remove her from the anime. Despite that, both teams seem to be on the same page now, with the developer calling Rebecca the " best girl ."

« She is the best girl. But I feel a little guilty saying this because I was one of the people on the creative team who voted to remove Rebecca from the original cast during pre-production ," the team member commented. Going into more detail, it turns out that the developer company of Cyberpunk 2077 mistrusted her character.

CD Projekt Red received Rebecca's character design first and they said, " She's a loli. Lolis don't exist in Night City. She doesn't fit the Cyberpunk 2077 aesthetic ." But Trigger 's response was concise: " No, the loli must stay ." Of course, as you can see from the snippet, the conversation is very casual, so this is unlikely to be the case. However, it shows that some in the company didn't really like Rebecca's design during the filming of the series, mostly because she looked quite young compared to the rest.

Admittedly, the series goes to great lengths to establish that Rebecca is not a child as soon as she is introduced. As many fans have pointed out, she doesn't sound very childish in the English dub either, and she doesn't become a love interest during the series either. Of course, that doesn't change the fact that her design is remarkably that of a loli.
