On the official site for the anime adaptation of the light novels written by Bokuto Uno and illustrated by Ruria Miyuki , Reign of the Seven Spellblades ( Nanatsu no Maken ga Shihai suru ), the first promotional video for the project was revealed. The press release revealed the production details, the voice cast, and confirmed that the premiere is scheduled for next July in Japan.

Uno began publishing the light novels through the Kadokawa publisher's Dengeki Bunko imprint in September 2018. The work is also inspiring a manga adaptation by Sakae Esuno , which has been published in Monthly Shounen Ace magazine since May of 2019.

Sinopsis of Reign of the Seven Spellblades

In the world of magic, there are irreversible deadly techniques commonly known as spells. These rare and elusive spells, along with their casters, are shrouded in mystery and only their sheer lethality is known to the masses. Each year the blossoming of spring means a new intake of students at the prestigious Kimberly School of Magic. To shocked and bewildered reactions, a ceremonious parade of magical beasts welcomes newcomers to the institution.

Among them is the mysterious Oliver Horn, whose indifference turns to fascination when he focuses on a peculiar figure: a girl in a strange outfit equipped with a Japanese sword. From the entrance ceremony, Oliver realizes that not everything is what it seems in Kimberly, since the appearance of mazes, monsters and other threats put the new student body in danger. Nanatsu no Maken ga Shihai suru explores the intertwined fates of two warriors as they discover the dark truths that lurk within the walls of the academy.
