After the broadcast of today's episode, it was reported that the anime adaptation of the light novels written by Miri Mikawa and illustrated by Aki , Sugar Apple Fairy Tale , will have a second part that will premiere next July in Japan . The statement was clear about the fact that it is a “Second Cour (2クール)”, meaning that as a whole it is still a single season, but in two parts.

The first part of the anime premiered on January 6 and had a total of twelve episodes, with Crunchyroll in charge of distribution in the West. For his part, Mikawa began publishing the light novels with illustrations by Aki in April 2010, and finished them in February 2015 with a total of seventeen volumes published by Kadokawa . Alto Yukimura made a two-volume manga adaptation that was published through Hakusensha 's Hana to Yume Online service between 2013 and 2014.

Synopsis for Sugar Apple Fairy Tale

In the kingdom of Highland, the fairies lived freely until the humans betrayed them. Once a fairy has been stripped of a wing, whoever owns it holds the fairy's life in their hands. Taking advantage of this, the humans enslaved the fairies, but 15-year-old Ann Halford longs to see the day when fairies and humans are treated as equals.

The aspiring pastry chef dreams of becoming a Silver Sugar Master like her late mother. To achieve this, Ann heads to the capital, Lewiston, where the Royal Candy Fair is held annually. However, to earn the elusive title, Ann's confection made from silver sugar must be recognized with a royal medal at the event.

Ann hires a sharp-tongued fairy warrior, Shall Fen Shall, to be her bodyguard on the perilous journey ahead. After saving him from his cruel merchant-fairy, she promises to return Shall's wing to him once they reach the capital, much to his confusion. But as the couple progresses on their journey, the time they spend together increases and they learn more about each other and their true desires.
