Mothers do not want their children to read Oshi no Ko

In a surprising turn of events, a photograph of a warning posted in the library of a children's center in Japan has gone viral on social media and comment boards. The image shows a ledge with a warning that reads: " Unfortunate news. We have received complaints about the presence of the manga "Oshi no Ko" in this center. The story seems to be designed for boys and girls of high school age and above. We regret that we cannot provide these books from now on ».

The “ Oshi no Ko ” franchise has become the center of attention due to the different reactions it has generated among the community. The manga series, written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari , tells the story of the reborn children of a teen idol and features complex and mature themes. Although it has been very well received by adult audiences, its presence in a library intended for young children has sparked a debate about the appropriateness of the content.

Community feedback on social media has been mixed. Some argue that the content of "Oshi no Ko" is not appropriate for school-age children, while others defend the inclusion of the series and suggest that the decision is inconsistent, since manga like "Jujutsu Kaisen" and "Neon Genesis Evangelion" ” remain available in the same library.

One user expressed his opinion about it: " Well, it's obvious that you can't put a manga about a pregnant teenager in that place ." Another commented: " I don't think it's because of the content, I'm sure if you ask them to add Chainsaw Man to that library they would approve ."

Others have questioned whether the manga would be suitable for elementary school children. One user mentioned: “ I don't know if it's interesting for elementary school kids, could they understand the story of Oshi no Ko? If they were high school students or older, perhaps they would enjoy it more .”

However, some members of the community have defended the series, noting that other works with equally mature content are available in the library. One user highlighted: “ I don't know… I can say that Jujutsu Kaisen and Neon Genesis Evangelion are, to some extent, fictional stories. But the stabbing and teenage pregnancy in Oshi no Ko are situations that could be very easily imitated ." Another added: " In fact, there is less eroticism in Oshi no Ko than there is in the entire Neon Genesis Evangelion story, I don't understand the decision ."

The controversy continues to grow as the community debates the presence of "Oshi no Ko" in a children's library and the line between entertainment aimed at adults and its availability in spaces intended for young children. As the news spreads, the focus is on how institutions select and evaluate appropriate content for their youngest users.
