A press release for the production of the second season for the anime adaptation of the light novels written by
Kei Sazane  and illustrated by  Ao Nekonabe ,  Kimi to Boku no Saigo no Senjou, Aruiwa Sekai ga Hajimaru Seisen  ( KimiSen: Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World ), announced that the premiere of the production would delay its premiere until 2024 , with it scheduled to premiere in 2023 in Japan . No reason for the delay was revealed, highlighting that it is still in production.

It should be noted that the statement refers to this “sequel” as “second season”, which would confirm its format: it is a series.

The first season aired during the Fall-2020 season (October-December) and had twelve episodes. Kei Sazane and Ao Nekonabe  began publishing the light novels through Fujimi Shobo 's Fantasia Bunko publishing label in May 2017. A manga adaptation by Okama was published in Hakusensha  's  Young Animal magazine since May 2018 to March 2021, with a total of seven compilation volumes.

Sinopsis of KimiSen: Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World

A force known as astral power spreads throughout the world, wielded by astral magicians. Fearing their destructive power, the “Empire” persecutes those who display their abilities. The tormented wizards then found the Nebulis Sovereignty to flee their oppressors. Since then, the two nations have been in bitter conflict, the war still continuing for over a century. After committing the great crime of freeing an imprisoned witch, the talented knight Iska is sentenced to prison.

A year later, the leaders of the Empire suddenly decide to release him, on the condition that he hunts down a fearsome magician known as the “Ice Calamity Witch.” Hoping to end the war, Iska agrees. Coincidentally, the Ice Calamity Witch herself, Aliceliese “Alice” Lou Nebulis XI, also desires peace and is willing to do whatever she can to bring down the Empire. As Iska and Alice long for a crusade that will turn the world into one without strife, misfortune, or pain, the threads of fate draw them closer together, creating a bond that goes beyond something made by mere coincidence.
