In an exciting reveal, director Chad Stahleski has
announced that the John
Wick franchise will be expanded with a Japanese anime. During
an appearance on The Discourse podcast , Stahleski shared details
about this highly anticipated project.
The director expressed his enthusiasm for this new creative
direction, highlighting the collaboration with Japanese talent to carry out the
anime. « We are really excited. We are making a Japanese
anime because I love Japanese anime so much. To create all the great
stories that the anime can achieve better than us, and the TV show to expand
our world. We'll still get our fix, you know? And we will continue to
have fun », Stahleski shared.
In the world of anime, world-building and action have
remained fairly separate, according to Stahleski. However, the director
seeks to combine both facets, offering fans a unique experience. « I
think, especially for television, the world-building and the action have
remained quite separate. But if you try to combine them and give the fans
[both things]? Look, I love intrigue too, but after six installments, I'd
like something to happen on my TV shows, you know? So trying to bring that
to television would be really exciting ,” he added.
This television project is not John Wick 's
first foray outside of film, as The Continental was
recently released to mixed reviews. When questioned about this project,
Stahleski admitted to having little to do with the television series, except
for some advice. Currently, his creative focus is more focused on the
development of the John Wick anime, which promises great things for the
project. Now, executives must make sure they choose the perfect
overseas studio to handle the legend that is John Wick.
