On the
official site for the anime adaptation of the novels written by Motoo
Nakanishi , “ Sword of the Demon Hunter ( Kijin
Gentoushou )”, a new promotional image of the project was revealed.
The press release listed that the premiere has been scheduled for June
27 with a one-hour special.
Two new
voice cast members were also announced, including:
- Hiroshi Shirokuma as Douga no Oni (Demon of
Assimilation), a two-horned demon with a muscular body.
- Yui Kondou as Toumi no Kijo (Demoness
of the Watchtower), a demon who can see far distances and into the future.
Motoo
Nakanishi began
publishing the novels through the Futabasha publishing
house in Japan in June 2019, and finished it in November 2023 with a total of
fourteen volumes. The manga adaptation is by Yuu Satomi (Kekkai
no Noah, Mushihime, Yakedo Shoujo) and has been published since September 2021.
Synopsis
of Sword of the Demon Hunter
In the
Edo period, there was a shrine maiden called “Itsukihime” in the mountain
village of Kadono. Jinta, a young man who acts as the guardian of the shrine
maiden despite being a stranger, encounters a mysterious demon who speaks of
the distant future in the forest where he went to defeat it. From Edo to the
Heisei era, this massive Japanese fantasy series follows a demon man who
travels through time while continually questioning the meaning of wielding a
sword.
