Following the airing of today’s episode, a third season of the anime adaptation of the light novels “ Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy ( Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu )” was announced to be in production. The release did not reveal production details or a scheduled premiere date, but did reveal a visual of the main characters opening a barrel of sake to celebrate the news.

Kei Azumi began publishing the original novels through the independent service Shousetsuka ni Narou in 2012, while publisher AlphaPolis began publishing them in paperback with illustrations by Mitsuaki Matsumoto in May 2013. A manga adaptation by Kotora Kino has been published through the publisher's Alpha Manga service since 2015.

Meanwhile, the anime adaptation totals thirty-six episodes to date, with twelve of the first season produced by C2C , and twenty-four of the second season produced by JCSTAFF .

Sinopsis of Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy

The fantasy story centers on Makoto Misumi, an ordinary high school boy who is sent to a new world as a brave warrior. Unfortunately, the goddess of that new world scornfully told him, “You are so ugly,” stripped him of his title, and banished him to the farthest reaches of the desert. While wandering the area, Makoto encountered dragons, spiders, orcs, dwarves, and all manner of fantastical creatures. Due to the differences in the environment from his home world, Makoto now exhibits extraordinary magical and combat powers. Thus, he survives in this world while facing various threats. The curtain thus rises on the alternate world’s social reform fantasy centered on a young boy abandoned by both gods and humans.
