During the panel for the “ Gintama ” franchise at
the Jump Festa 2025 event , a new promotional video was
revealed for the anime adaptation of “ 3-Z Ginpachi Sensei ( 3-nen
Z-gumi Ginpachi-sensei )”, based on the spin-off novels of the
franchise. The video confirms that the premiere is scheduled for the
Fall 2025 period (October-December) , but also lists that the
“Gintama-an on Theater 2D” compilation films will have a re-release in February
2025 in Japan.
For his part, Tomohito Osaki began
publishing the spin-off novels in 2006 through the publishing house Shueisha , and finished
it in December 2024 with a total of four volumes. The concept of the work had
already inspired a series of shorts that were shown at the end of several of
the main episodes of the adaptation of " Gintama "
on television.
Gintama Synopsis
During the Edo period, Japan is suddenly invaded by
alien creatures known as the Amanto. Despite the samurai's attempts to combat
the extraterrestrial threat, the Shogun soon realizes that their efforts are
futile and decides to surrender. This marks the beginning of an uneasy
agreement between the Shogunate and the Amanto, which results in the banning of
swords throughout the country and the disappearance of the samurai spirit.
However, there is one eccentric individual who wields
a wooden sword and refuses to let his samurai status die. With his kind no
longer needed, Gintoki Sakata takes on odd jobs around town to make ends meet.
Together with his self-proclaimed disciple Shinpachi Shimura, the fearsome
alien Kagura, and a giant dog named Sadaharu, they run the business known as
Yorozuya, often finding themselves involved in all sorts of wacky and hilarious
pranks.
