During the panel for the “ Jujutsu Kaisen ” franchise at
the Jump Festa 2025 event , a new promotional visual was
revealed for the project’s upcoming sequel. This sequel (which
is still not officially confirmed as a “third season”) will adapt the
Execution Arc, and details about the premiere date will be announced soon.
Additionally, a promotional visual was revealed for
the second season's compilation film, which is scheduled to be released in
Japanese theaters on May 30, 2025. Although this is not as
relevant as the above, it could serve as a clue to infer that the sequel would
have to be released until the second half of 2025, at least.
For his part, Gege Akutami began
publishing the manga in Shueisha 's Weekly
Shonen Jump magazine in March 2018 and ended it in September 2024. The
first season of the anime adaptation had a total of twenty-four episodes and
premiered during the Fall 2022 season (October-December) . A film
titled “ Jujutsu Kaisen 0 ” was subsequently produced and
released in December 2021, followed by a second season of twenty-three episodes
in Summer 2023 (July-September) .
Synopsis of Jujutsu Kaisen 2nd Season
The year is 2006, and the halls of the Tokyo
Prefectural Jujutsu Institute echo with the endless discussions and intense
debates between two inseparable best friends. With unwavering confidence,
Satoru Gojou and Suguru Getou believe that no challenge is too great for young
and powerful special-grade sorcerers like themselves. They have been tasked
with safely delivering a sensible girl named Riko Amanai to the entity whose
existence is the very essence of the jujutsu world. However, the mission
plunges them into a grueling maelstrom of moral conflict that threatens to
destroy the already tenuous friendship between sorcerers and ordinary humans.
Twelve years later, students and magi are the first
line of defense against the growing number of high-level curses born from the
negative emotions of humans. As the entities grow in power, so do their
self-awareness and ambition. The curses unite with the common goal of
eradicating humans and creating a world where only cursed energy users exist,
led by a dangerous, ancient cursed spirit. To get rid of their greatest
obstacle - the strongest magus, Gojou - they orchestrate an attack on Shibuya
Station on Halloween. Split into teams, the magi go into battle willing to risk
everything to protect the innocent and their own kind.
