A press release reported that the upcoming “ Shaman
King Yard ” manga will be the final story arc in Hiroyuki Takei ’s
“ Shaman King ”
franchise . The new manga is currently in preparation and a release date
will be announced at a later date.
For his part, Hiroyuki Takei began
publishing the original manga in June 1998 through Shueisha 's Weekly
Shonen Jump magazine in August 2004. After a series of one-shots
titled " Shaman King: Zero Stories ", a sequel titled
" Shaman King: Flowers " was published in Jump X
between April 2012 and October 2014, followed by " Shaman King:
The Super Star " in Shonen Magazine Edge between April 2018 and
November 2024.
Regarding the anime, there have been two adaptations,
with the first of 64 episodes produced by NAS and Xebec studios
and broadcast between July 2001 and September 2002; and a second adaptation of
52 episodes produced by Bridge studios and broadcast between
April 2021 and April 2022.
Shaman King Synopsis
Shamans are extraordinary individuals with the ability
to communicate with ghosts, spirits, and gods, invisible to ordinary people.
The Shaman Fight, a prestigious tournament pitting shamans from around the
world against each other, is held every five hundred years, and the winner is
crowned Shaman King. This title allows the current holder to call upon the
Great Spirit and shape the world to his will.
One night, Manta Oyamada, an ordinary high school
student, is late for class and decides to take a shortcut through the local
cemetery. Noticing him, a lonely boy sitting on a tombstone invites Manta to
come and gaze at the stars with “them.” Realizing that “them” refers to the boy
and his ghostly friends, Manta flees in terror. Later, the boy introduces
himself as You Asakura, a shaman-in-training, and demonstrates his powers by
teaming up with the ghost of the six-hundred-year-old samurai Amidamaru to save
Manta from a group of thugs. You befriends Manta through his ability to see
spirits, and with Amidamaru’s help, they set out to fulfill You’s goal of
becoming the next Shaman King.
