Production
company Toei revealed during a press conference that the
“ Girls Band Cry ” franchise will have two
compilation films that will be released this year in Japanese theaters. Curiously, this development
coincides with the same strategy carried out by the “ Bocchi the Rock! “
franchise, a work of the same musical genre.

“Girls
Band Cry” follows the story of Nina Iseri, a young girl who drops out of high
school and moves to Tokyo alone with dreams of attending college. Throughout the series, it is
shown how she and other girls, each dealing with their own problems, find an
escape and a way to express themselves through the creation of a band in music.
It was
also previously confirmed that the series' band, Togenashi Togeari, will hold
their fifth live concert on February 7, 2025, at Pacifico Yokohama, the largest
venue in the band's history. Tickets for the concert could be purchased through an advance
lottery when purchasing Volume 5 of the anime's Blu-ray/DVD, available from
October 2024 in Japan.
Girls
Band Cry Synopsis
Everyone
longs to find their true purpose in life. The same is true for 17-year-old Nina
Iseri, who wants to enroll in a good university, but the world seems to be
always against her. On her first day in Tokyo, she gets lost, ignored, and
locked out of her new apartment. However, an unexpected opportunity arises when
Nina meets Momoka Kawaragi, one of her favorite guitarists.
After
Nina joins Momoka at a street performance, Momoka decides they should form a
band together. Though Nina is hesitant at first, her determination grows as
they gain more bandmates: the beautiful drummer Subaru Awa, the aloof
keyboardist Tomo Ebizuka, and the intelligent bassist Rupa. The five girls face
challenges both in the music industry and within themselves, but their shared
passion for music never allows them to give up on their dreams.
