Although
the "Jujutsu Kaisen" manga ended in September 2024, its success
hasn't slowed down one bit. With major titles like "My Hero
Academia" and " Jujutsu Kaisen " wrapping up their
stories, many were wondering what the future holds for Weekly Shonen Jump
magazine. But
it seems the magazine can still breathe easy, as Gege Akutami's manga continues
to sell like hotcakes.
According
to the Oricon platform, "Jujutsu Kaisen" remains in the top 10
best-selling manga. In the last week of February, the manga ranked
seventh with 44,388 copies sold, most of them from Volume 30, which came out on
December 25, 2024. Not only that, it was also the eighth best-selling
manga of February, which is impressive considering its last chapter came out
months ago.
Since its
premiere in 2020, the "Jujutsu Kaisen" anime has catapulted the
series to worldwide success, making it a mainstay of Weekly Shonen Jump. Its
finale left opinions divided, but there's no doubt it still has a massive
fanbase. In September 2024, it reached the incredible milestone of 100
million copies in circulation, securing its place in the history of
best-selling manga.
Since its
last volumes were published, the manga has maintained a blistering sales pace,
with between 30,000 and 50,000 copies sold per week. It's unknown how
much longer it can remain in the rankings, but with the anime preparing its
third season and all the merchandising that continues to generate revenue,
"Jujutsu Kaisen" isn't going away anytime soon. The story of
Yuji and company may have ended on paper, but its legacy remains stronger than
ever.
Synopsis
of Jujutsu Kaisen
High
school student Yuuji Itadori engages in paranormal activities with the Occult
Club, spending his days either at the club or at the hospital, where he visits
his bedridden grandfather. However, this peaceful lifestyle soon takes a turn
for the strange when he unwittingly finds a cursed object. Setting off a chain
of supernatural events, Yuuji suddenly finds himself immersed in the world of
curses—terrible beings formed from human evil and negativity—after swallowing
the object, which turns out to be a finger belonging to the demon Sukuna
Ryoumen, the King of Curses. Yuuji experiences firsthand the threat these
Curses pose to society while discovering his own newly discovered powers.
Inducted into the Tokyo Metropolitan Magic Technical College, he begins a path
from which he cannot return: the path of a Jujutsu sorcerer.
