After an
intense fifth season, " DanMachi: Is It Wrong to Try to Pick
Up Girls in a Dungeon? " not only wrapped up its final story arc with a flourish,
but is also gearing up to celebrate its tenth anniversary in style. The series,
based on the light novels by Fujino Omori , launched in
2013, but its real impact came with the anime adaptation that premiered
in Spring 2015.
Now, a
decade later, the franchise is still considered a heavyweight in the
industry. To kick off the celebration, "DanMachi"
unveiled a new special milestone for its tenth anniversary, though no further
details have yet been revealed about what's coming next. However, fans
are sure to have more surprises in store.
The author
commented on this celebration:
- « The goddess Freya,
who appears in Norse mythology, grants love to many people and is loved by
many, but… what if she has never actually experienced falling in love?
When I researched mythology, I initially interpreted the story that way.
She can love and be loved, but is it really possible that she has never
felt what it is like to fall in love? Maybe so. After all, she is a
goddess who is more capricious than humans, who in some ways is more
limited, and who has an obligation to love everyone. Perhaps, just like
when we were teenagers, she forgot somewhere along the line what it means
to consider just one person special.
- Freya represents love, while
Syr represents falling in love. Syr's story was born when Freya, exhausted
by love, finally leaned into falling in love. That's the core of the
Goddess of Fertility arc. At least, that's how I see it. Well, in short,
this is the story of a "first love monster" who had never fallen
in love in billions of years and ended up wreaking havoc. To Matsuoka-san,
who was suffering this whole time—really, great work! And Ishigami-san and
Hikasa-san were also amazing monsters. Thank you so much!
- Jokes aside, I'm immensely
happy to have been able to conclude Syr's story, which has been present
since the first season of the anime, in such a wonderful way. And to all
the fans who have followed the series up to this point, thank you from the
bottom of my heart! Please continue to support DanMachi in the future. And
if you want to see a sixth season of the anime... let's ask Syr and the
goddess Freya to captivate the production team !
The fifth
season had its ups and downs with some delays, but it wrapped up with a bang in
Arc V: Goddess of Fertility, where Bell Cranel and his team faced off against
the Freya Familia in an epic battle. There's no official confirmation
of a sixth season yet, but given how far the franchise has come, it's hard to
imagine it not continuing. With the original light novels
nearing their final stretch, the future of "DanMachi" remains
exciting. We'll just have to wait and see what else they have in store for the
anniversary!

Synopsis: Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?
Life in
the bustling city of Orario is never dull, especially for Bell Cranel, a naive
young man hoping to become the greatest adventurer in the land. After a chance
encounter with the reclusive goddess Hestia, his dreams come a little closer to
reality. With her support, Bell embarks on a fantastical quest as he ventures
deep into the city's monster-filled catacombs, known only as the
"Dungeon." Death lurks around every corner in the cavernous depths of
this terrifying labyrinth, and a mysterious power moves in the shadows.
Even on
the surface, survival is a hard-earned privilege. Indeed, nothing is certain in
a world where gods and humans live and work together, especially when they
often struggle to get along. However, one thing is certain: the intrepid and
optimistic protagonist of this Herculean tale is in for a host of
misadventures, triumphs, and friendships.
