During a
special panel at the Anime Expo held on Friday, it was confirmed that the anime
film The Last Blossom (Housenka), an original work by
director Baku Kinoshita and screenwriter Kadzuya
Konomoto, will be released in theaters in Japan on October 10, 2025.
The feature
film had an outstanding participation in the Annecy International
Animation Film Festival, one of the most important events in the world in
its category. This year, The Last Blossom was part of the
official feature film competition, while in the previous edition it had already
been presented as part of the Work in Progress section.
A cast
that brings multiple timelines to life
The story
of Akutsu, the protagonist, is played in two stages of his life by
actors Kaoru Kobayashi (present) and Junki Tozuka (past).
Similarly, the character of Nana Nagata, Akutsu's partner, is
voiced by Hikari Mitsushima and Yoshiko Miyazaki.
A talking flower called Housenka will be played by the
renowned Pierre Taki.
A
creative team that is of high caliber
The film is
directed by Baku Kinoshita and has an original screenplay
written by Kadzuya Konomoto, who had already worked together on the
acclaimed series ODDTAXI (2021). The animation is in charge of
the CLAP studio, known for titles such as Pompo: The
Cinéphile and The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes.
The concept art is by Michinoku-Toge, while the Japanese band cero is
in charge of the musical composition.
An

The Last
Blossom is
shaping up to be a work full of sensitivity and originality, combining the
unmistakable narrative style of its creators with an immersive visual and sound
proposal. With its premiere scheduled for October 10 at 00:00 (local
time in Japan), which corresponds to 17:00 on October 9 in
Spain (UTC+2), anime fans already mark the date on their calendars.
