On the official site for " Mashin Souzouden Wataru ", the new television anime in Sunrise 's " Wataru " franchise, a new promotional video for the second part of the project was revealed. The video features a snippet of the new opening theme song titled " Sou " and performed by SANTA , and the release included a comment from the artist regarding his participation in this series:
- I'm so honored to be able to
perform the opening theme song as my first solo song for an anime!
"Wataru" is a series with a particularly long history, and as a
lover of Japanese anime, I'd be so happy to be able to enjoy it together
with anime fans around the world, transcending generations. The modern
concept of broadcasting adventures to the world as a "RyūTuber"
has certain similarities to my current work, which makes it even more
special to me. "Sou" is a song about the strength of Wataru, who
moves forward with determination and optimism in an age where it's hard to
know what will resonate with people or what is the right thing to do. I
hope I can spread that energy to as many people as possible, just like
Wataru.
The
series has been airing in Japan since January 12 , while a manga adaptation has been
serialized in Shogakukan 's Monthly CoroCoro Comic magazine
since December 2024.
On the
other hand, the original anime " Mashin Eiyuuden Wataru "
premiered in 1988 in Japan, followed by the sequel " Mashin
Eiyuuden Wataru 2 " in 1990, and then by " Chou
Mashin Eiyuuden Wataru " in 1997. The franchise also featured
three OVAs that were released between 1989 and 1993.
Then,
" Mashin Eiyuuden Wataru: Shichikon no Ryuujinmaru " was
the Sunrise and Bandai Spirits project born
in 2020, with an anime on YouTube released in Spring-2020 (April-June) .
A compilation film titled " Mashin Eiyuuden Wataru: Shichikon no
Ryuujinmaru - Saikai " premiered in January-2022.
Synopsis
of Mashin Souzouden Wataru
The
project's story follows the series' protagonist, Wataru, who travels to the
world of Sokaizan after receiving a call about an incident there. Upon
arriving, he discovers that an evil presence has enveloped the region in
darkness and that the robot Ryujinmaru's power has been sealed, rendering it
inactive. Determined to restore balance and free Sokaizan from this threat,
Wataru embarks on a new adventure accompanied by his faithful friends:
Shibaraku, a brave warrior with a great sword and a kind heart; Torao, a
skilled swordsman with a mysterious past; and Himiko, a spirited young woman
with unique magical abilities.
Together,
they must face powerful enemies, solve ancient mysteries, and uncover the
source of the evil presence that has plunged Sōkaizan into chaos. Hoping to
restore Ryujinmaru's power and save the world, Wataru and his friends embark on
an epic journey filled with challenges and excitement.
