If you
recall, in a previous news item we told you that the anime
adaptation of " Sword of the Demon Hunter ( Kijin
Gentoushou )" had suffered a delay, but that it would finally
premiere on March 31 with a one-hour special. Now that the first episode has
aired, we have more news: the story enters fully into the "Edo
Arc" starting with episode 2, and with that, new characters and voice
actors have been revealed who are joining the series.
For those
who haven't followed the plot closely, the first episode showed us Jinta's
transformation into the oni named Jinya, his departure from the Katsuno region,
and the tragic fate of Shirayuki, who was killed by Suzune, a young woman
consumed by jealousy who ended up unleashing her demonic power and disappearing
without a trace. Now, ten years later, Jinya has become a ronin oni
hunter, and his path in Edo will bring new encounters and challenges.
Additionally, Taku
Yashiro, who voices Jinya , also shared a few words about this new
phase of the story. He emphasized that the Edo Arc is full of memorable
characters and that he's excited for how Jinya's journey will unfold, including
everything he'll discover, lose, and gain along the way. With these
announcements, the series continues to warm up and promises more excitement in

Here are
the details about the series:
- Motoo Nakanishi began publishing the
novels through Futabasha in June 2019 and completed them
in November 2023, bringing the total to fourteen volumes. The work also
inspired a manga adaptation, illustrated by Yuu Satomi ,
which has been published since September 2021.
- As for the voice cast, Taku
Yashiro plays Jinta, Reina Ueda plays Suzune,
and Saori Hayami voices Shirayuki.
- The production team
includes Kazuya Aiura as director at Yokohama
Animation Lab , with Deko Akao in charge of
writing and supervising the script. Tarou Ikegami is in
charge of character design and animation direction, while MONACA is composing
the soundtrack.
- The story follows Jinta, a
young man who serves as the protector of a shrine maiden in a remote
mountain village during the Edo era. His fate changes after he confronts a
demon who speaks of the future, leading him to embark on a journey through
time, from the Edo period to the Heisei era, in search of the true purpose
of wielding a sword.
