Attention,
" The Legend of Zelda " fans ! The live-action film based on the
famous video game franchise now has a release date: March 26, 2027! The
news was revealed this Friday via Nintendo's new app, Nintendo Today, more than
a year after the project was announced in November 2023.
At that
time, Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of the series, confirmed that he would be
producing the film alongside Avi Arad, renowned producer of Hollywood
blockbusters. The
film will be directed by Wes Ball, known for his work on "The Maze
Runner" trilogy and "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes."
Additionally, Joe Hartwick Jr. will be attached as a producer. The film
will be co-financed by Sony Pictures and Nintendo, with the vast majority of
the financial support coming from the renowned Japanese company.
While no
details about the cast or plot have yet been revealed, Miyamoto left a message
for fans: “ I’ve been working on this film for years with Avi
Arad-san, who has produced many hits. We have officially begun development with
the active participation of Nintendo. Although it will take time, I hope you
are as excited as I am to see the final result .”
The
"Legend of Zelda" film project gained momentum after the worldwide
success of "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" in 2023, an animated film
that grossed over $1.3 billion globally. Looks like Nintendo is still
going strong on the big screen!
