Synopsis
of Though I Am an Inept Villainess
Within
the opulent inner court of the Kingdom of Ei lies the prosperous Maiden Court,
where the empress and the four imperial consorts are chosen from five prominent
clans. Among them, the impeccable Reirin Kou stands out as the perfect
candidate to become the future empress. Her virtue and elegance are
unparalleled, and she is completely beyond reproach... save for her extremely
fragile constitution. Compared to the delicate court butterfly, the coarse
Keigetsu Shu is seen as a mere sewer rat. Always watching Reirin with bitter
envy, Keigetsu is considered a disgrace to the Maiden Court.
During
the night of a rare comet sighting, Keigetsu's jealousy reaches its peak, and
in a fit of desperation, he attempts to murder Reirin by pushing her off a
balcony. However, Reirin is rescued from certain death in time, and Keigetsu is
imprisoned to await execution. What no one suspects is that, before being
captured, Keigetsu cast a body-swap spell on Reirin, intending to take
everything that belongs to her. But while Keigetsu is limited by Reirin's
ailing body, Reirin discovers freedom and physical strength for the first time
in her life, determinedly embracing her new lease on life... no matter whose
face she wears.
