The anime
" Kusuriya no Hitorigoto ( The Apothecary Diaries )" has
announced a special live-action program for May 16, replacing the anime's
regular broadcast on that date. The news was shared through the
franchise's official Twitter account, where some of the guests who will
participate in the event were also revealed.
The show
will feature guest appearances by Takeo Otsuka (voice of
Jinshi), Katsuyuki Konishi (voice of Gaoshun), Tatsumaru
Tachibana (voice of Basen), and a new male cast member who will be
revealed during the broadcast. The special event will air during the
anime's regular time slot, May 16 at 11:00 PM JST, meaning there will not be a
new episode of the series that week.
In turn,
it was confirmed that episode 19 of the second season (episode 43 in total)
will air on May 23 ,
thus resuming the regular broadcast of the story. Along with the announcement,
a schedule was also released with the broadcast dates corresponding to May
2025:

This
special comes at a time when the franchise is at one of its all-time highs , and will undoubtedly be an
unmissable opportunity for fans to see the male cast share exclusive details
and possibly new surprises about the future of the series.
- "Kusuriya no
Hitorigoto" is a Japanese light novel series written by Natsu Hyuga
and illustrated by Toko Shino. It is published in Japan by the Hero
Bunko imprint.
- The first season of the anime
was produced by TOHO Animation and OLM in 2023, marking the start of its
television adaptation. The second season of the anime is currently
airing, continuing the story of its peculiar protagonist.
- The story revolves around
Maomao, a young woman raised by her apothecary father, who is kidnapped
and sold as a servant to the hougong, the harem of the imperial
palace. Although she tries to hide her vast medical knowledge, her
life changes drastically when she is discovered by Jinshi, a mysterious
eunuch who recognizes her talent.
- Jinshi appoints her as a taster
for the emperor's favorite consort, a delicate position that exposes her
to the dangers of the palace world. From that moment on, Maomao
finds herself entangled in a web of intrigue, mystery, and secrets, where
her sharp wit becomes both her greatest weapon and her greatest threat.
