As previously reported , the
original " Zombieland Saga " franchise is preparing its triumphant return to the
big screen with the film “ Zombieland Saga: Dream Galactic Paradise ( Yumeginga
Paradise )”, originally announced in 2021. Well, now it has
finally been confirmed that the premiere will be next October 24 in theaters in
Japan , and along with this news came a new teaser and a spectacular
promotional visual.
The new video begins with a backdrop of space, with the text "Saga Expo 2025 begins" appearing on screen. From there, we see the Franchouchou girls preparing to put on a great show as ambassadors for the event, but also more chaotic scenes: a sudden threat to Saga's existence, panicked citizens, dancing grandparents, and a city that seems on the verge of collapse. Chaos and idol zombies, as it should be!
The new visual shows the seven Franchouchou girls in their zombie form, blasting into space from a gigantic pavilion at the Saga Expo. An image as surreal as it is promising.
Additionally,
it has been announced that advance tickets (MoviTicke) will go on sale on May
2. As an incentive, those who purchase them will receive one of the “Galaxy
Uchiwa” (galactic support fans), available in eight random designs featuring
the seven girls and the incomparable producer Kotaro Tatsumi. On the
occasion of these revelations, the main cast—Kaede Hondo, Asami Tano, Risa
Taneda, Maki Kawase, Rika Kinugawa, Minami Tanaka, Kotono Mitsuishi, and Mamoru
Miyano—shared messages of enthusiasm, as did directors Kōnosuke Uda, Takeru
Sato, and Takafumi Ishida of MAPPA, who are leading this ambitious production.
- Kaede Hondo (voice of Minamoto
Sakura): “Season 2, season 3, and a movie, we’re going all out!” – It’s been
a few years since I excitedly shouted that out from a hot air balloon, and
I still can’t believe the movie actually happened. All of this was
possible thanks to all of your love for this work. Thank you so much!! As
for Yumeginga Paradise... let’s see. In a word, the content is totally
“this is Zombieland Saga!” We’re counting on your support!
- Asami Tano (voice of Nikaidou
Saki): Congratulations!
It's Zombieland Saga: Yumeginga Paradise! You waited, and you waited, and
we kept waiting. I'm Asami Tano, the voice of Nikaidou Saki. Thank you for
believing and waiting. Really, thank you! The zombies didn't betray
anyone. The movie is finally here! Franchouchou has to save Saga. Can they
do it? Can't they? What's going on? What will they do? The power we show
after dying once. This movie, you have to see it! The Expo is great,
but... go to the theater too! Yaaaah, how crazy! Yoroshikuuuu!
- Risa Taneda (voice of Mizuno
Ai): I’m
so happy to bring you a brand new Zombieland Saga story! Zombieland Saga
has always been a franchise that exceeds our expectations, so there will
probably be scenes this time around that will leave you going “what?!” Of
course, there are new songs too! I hope you can enjoy it with a mix of
excitement, surprise, and many more emotions. Let’s cheer on Zombieland
Saga and Saga once again this year!
- Maki Kawase (voice of Konno
Junko): Finally,
finally! Zombieland Saga and Franchouchou are back! When the entire cast
reunited for the dub, so many memories of Seasons 1 and 2 came flooding
back. The idols who save Saga, Franchouchou… what kind of stage will they
be performing on this time? The story, the songs, the animation… expect a
lot from all of it!
- Rika Kinugawa (voice of
Yugiri): The long-awaited movie is finally here! Seeing these girls who
always give their all again, and on the big screen! Will it be different
from what we've seen before in Zombieland Saga? ... No! It's definitely
Zombieland Saga! That's how you'll feel when you watch it. Rewatch the
first season before the premiere and let's all get ready to relive the
Zombieland fever together!
- Minami Tanaka (voice of
Hoshikawa Lily): Thank you for waiting! I'm so happy to announce this film! Just
thinking about seeing Franchouchou in action again, dancing and causing a
ruckus, gives me such a thrill I can't contain! I want you to feel that
same chaotic atmosphere in the theater. Lily will also shine even
brighter, with her "Kirakira Twinkle" power-up! Please
look forward to the premiere!
- Kotono Mitsuishi (voice of
Yamada Tae): Bwahhh! Aghhh… Wooooohhh! See? Veve? Dae-ha-ha-dododove!? …Ahhh~ Ahhh~ Dodoveguoo!!
Badabaa! Voooo-gaibaha!! Aiv. Bufufufu. Aiaoo ???? (Interpretive
commentary in “zombie language” by dear Tae, faithful to the character's
style).
- Mamoru Miyano (voiced by
Kotarou Tatsumi): Resurrected from the depths of hell… those “legends” who
overcame all sorts of extreme situations… are finally returning as a
movie!! Hey! How long has it been since this movie was announced, huh!?
Well, anyway… take this!! As an apology for the long wait, we made an
absolutely amazing movie! Super awesome, come on, cheers! In this movie,
Franchouchou is going to experience something amazing, in Yumeginga
Paradise, which is super this, and that, and BOOM!! So… anyway, it’s a lot
of fun! You guys have to see it! GO GO GO GO GO!
As if that
weren't enough, the official "Zombieland Saga" YouTube channel was
launched this April 25th, which is sure to bring more surprises in the coming
months. Saga is alive!... well, sort of.
- "Zombieland Saga"
debuted in the Fall 2018 season (October to December) and quickly became a
hit for its original approach to idols and zombies, which earned it the
affection of audiences. Thanks to its popularity, a second season titled Zombieland
Saga: Revenge was produced, which aired in Spring 2021 (April to June),
and the production of a film was officially announced that same year.
- The cancellation of the
"Yuri!!! on ICE" movie, also produced by MAPPA studios , generated some concern
among fans about whether the Zombieland Saga project would continue, but
thankfully it was confirmed and is ongoing.
- Story-wise, "Zombieland
Saga" follows a group of legendary girls from different eras who are
revived as zombies to form an idol group to save Saga Prefecture, a region
going through a difficult period. The protagonist, Minamoto Sakura,
dies in an accident and awakens ten years later, only to discover she has
been revived by the eccentric producer Kotaro Tatsumi. Along with other
zombie girls, she forms the unit called Franchouchou.
- Despite their cultural and
temporal differences, the girls learn to work together and overcome the
challenges of being zombie idols, holding their first concert at Karatsu's
Furusato Hall during the final winter of the Heisei Era. Now, in
the current Reiwa Era, Franchouchou begins a new chapter in her story with
the goal of bringing hope to the future... and to space, if the new film
promises to be any guide.
