A press
release listed that Takata 's light novels , " I
Made Friends with the Second Prettiest Girl in My Class ( Class
de 2-banme ni Kawaii Onnanoko to Tomodachi ni Natta )", will be
getting an anime adaptation. The release listed details of the voice cast and
production team, and confirmed that the premiere is slated for 2026 in
Japan.
The author commented on the matter: " Since it was reported in September 2023 that the anime adaptation project was underway, approximately one year and seven months have passed. It has taken a little while to get to this announcement, but I am relieved to finally be able to share this confirmation with you. There is still a lot of information that I cannot reveal at the moment, and although I really want to tell you everything at once, I will restrain myself and wait with you for the official announcements. The broadcast is scheduled for 2026, so I invite you to read the original manga and its comic book version to be prepared. After all, preparation and revision are important, or at least that's what those two also say ."
Takata began publishing the story
through its Kakuyomu service in November 2020, and Kadokawa has
been publishing it in print through its Sneaker Bunko imprint
since December 2021, with illustrations by Tom Osabe . A manga
adaptation by Rin Ono has been published through the same
publisher's Comic Alive Plus service since 2022 .
Synopsis
of I Made Friends with the Second Prettiest Girl in My Class
I,
Maehara Maki, struggled to connect with others throughout high school, and I
had a hard time making friends. Then came a turning point. A girl named Asanagi
entered my life. Despite being secretly known among the boys as "the
second prettiest in the class," she chose to spend her Fridays with me
instead of with her best friend Amami, who held the title of "prettiest in
the class."
In the
comfort of my home, we immersed ourselves in video games, watched movies, read
manga, and indulged in junk food—pizza, hamburgers—washed down with cola,
carefree and happy. To the outside world, we may have seemed a bit messy, but
to Asanagi and me, it was a precious, secret shared moment.
