The
" Uta no Prince-sama " franchise is gearing up for the highly anticipated
release of its new film " Gekijouban Uta no Prince-sama♪ TABOO NIGHT XXXX ", also known as " TABOO
NIGHT KISSES ", on May 9th in Japanese theaters .
As part of the promotion, the film's two-minute opening sequence, featuring the
theme song performed by the unit QUARTET NIGHT , is now
available online.
Additionally,
live greetings from the cast members have been announced. On May 25, Shouta Aoi
and Tomoaki Maeno will perform, while on May 31, Showtaro Morikubo and
Tatsuhisa Suzuki will do the same. These greetings will be broadcast live in
134 theaters across Japan, promising a special connection between fans and the
voice actors. The film centers on the popular group QUARTET NIGHT,
consisting of Showtaro Morikubo as Reiji Kotobuki; Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Ranmaru
Kurosaki; Shouta Aoi as Ai Mikaze; and Tomoaki Maeno as Camus.
The film's
title track, " TABOO NIGHT XXXX ," as well as the
insert song " JINN-Ω-RAY ," were released as a new single
from the unit on December 25 of last year. The film's new project is backed by
an experienced creative team. Takeshi Furuta returns as chief director
after his work on Maji Love Kingdom, while Akiko Seki is directing at A-1
Pictures. The original character designs are once again being handled
by Chinatsu Kurahana , and Maki Fujioka is
taking over as character designer.
On the
technical side, Hiroshi Nakajima is the CG
director, Takeshi Ookawa is the deputy CG director, and Katsuyoshi
Miyajima is the character modeler. The music, always essential to this
franchise, will be composed by Elements Garden , with
distribution by Shochiku . The original story is the work
of Noriyasu Agematsu and the Broccoli team.

- The "Uta no
Prince-sama" franchise began as a dating simulation video game for
women, developed by Broccoli. Its first anime adaptation, titled "Uta no Prince-sama –
Maji Love 1000%," premiered in July 2011 in Japan. The story follows
a young woman who enters a performing arts academy where she meets several
aspiring young idols, who eventually form the unit ST☆RISH.
- Over the years, the series has
spawned multiple anime seasons, specials, and feature films. Thanks
to its blend of music, romance, and charismatic male characters, the
franchise has established itself as one of the most beloved within the
female-oriented idol genre, both in Japan and internationally.
- The most recent feature film
before the current one was "Utano☆Princesama Maji LOVE ST☆RISH Tours", which was released in September 2022. The film was a commercial
success, earning over 1 billion yen at the box office in just 33 days of
its release.
- In preparation for the release
of the new film, the franchise organized special screenings of "ST☆RISH Tours" and "Uta no Prince
Sama Maji Love Kingdom" in Japanese theaters. These re-release screenings
took place over three weeks starting on March 7, 2024, as part of the
celebrations for the new installment.
