The
official website for the anime adaptation of Inexpressive
Kashiwada and Expressive Oota ( Kao ni Denai Kashiwada-san to
Kao ni Deru О̄ta-kun )
revealed two new cast members on Friday, along with short character
introduction videos.
Yumiri
Hanamori and Mayu Mineda join the romantic comedy
Renowned
voice actress Yumiri Hanamori will play Tabuchi-san ,
the student council president who holds a deep affection for Kashiwada. Mayu
Mineda will play Odajima-san , a spirited classmate
who acts impulsively, though not in the same way as Tabuchi.
A story
of opposing emotions
The series
follows the peculiar relationship between Kashiwada , a girl
with an imperturbable expression, and Oota , her classmate who
is unable to hide his feelings. Oota constantly strives to surprise her, but
never succeeds. However, Kashiwada finds something fascinating in him precisely
because of this emotional sincerity.
Their
classmates curiously observe the strange dynamic between the two in this endearing
romantic comedy set in a Japanese high school.

A
production with prominent names in anime
The film
will be directed by Tomohiro Kamitani ( MIX Season 2 , Katana
Maidens – Tomoshibi ), and produced by STUDIO POLON .
The scripts will be supervised by veteran Michiko Yokote ( Shirobako , Prison
School , Cowboy Bebop ).
The
character designs are by Naoto Nakamura ( A Certain
Magical Index II ), who will also serve as chief animation director. Yukari
Hashimoto ( Mr. Osomatsu ) and Tetsuya
Shitara ( Matsuinu ) will be providing the
music .
The
manga will come to an end, but the anime is just beginning.
The
original work, written and illustrated by Fuyu Azuma , was
released in July 2018 through Kadokawa 's Dra
Dra Sharp# site . The tenth and final compiled book volume was
published in July 2023 .
In
addition, the author has already started a sequel titled Kao ni Denai
Kashiwada-san to Kao ni Deru Oota-kun+ , whose first volume was
released in May 2024 . Previously, the manga had already had
an animated advertisement produced by Seven Arcs in 2022.
With its
combination of lighthearted humor, teenage cuteness, and contrasting
expressions, Inexpressive Kashiwada and Expressive Oota is
shaping up to be one of the most endearing comedies of 2025.
