The anime
adaptation of the light novel series The Brilliant Healer's New
Life in the Shadows (also known as Isshun de Chiryō Shiteita
no ni Yakutatazu to Tsuihō Sareta Tensai Chiyushi, Yami Healer to Shite
Tanoshiku Ikiru ) takes a turn in its story with the start of
the new story arc . Titled "Royal Healing Institute
Arc" , this stage begins with episode 8 , which
will air on Wednesday, May 22 at 5:30 p.m. (Spain time) .
New
characters join the story
Production
company Shochiku has revealed a new promotional visual, as
well as three new cast members who will debut in this arc:
- Takehito Koyasu will play Becker ,
an elite healer at the Royal Healing Institute who entrusts Zenos with the
mission of finding a missing healer.
- Setsuo Itō will voice Cress ,
a healer who entered the institute at the same time as Umin.
- Tetsu Inada will play Goldran ,
the institute's deputy director, who strengthens his faction ahead of the
upcoming internal elections.
Zenos
infiltrates the Royal Institute of Healing
The story
takes an unexpected turn when Zenos , the underground healer
protagonist, is forced to collaborate with the Royal Institute of Healing. To
protect the secret of his illegal clinic, he accepts a mission to locate
Alfred , a missing healer. This new arc not only expands the series'
universe but also introduces more political intrigue and ethical challenges for
the protagonist.
A solid
production with recognized talent
The anime
has been airing in Japan since April 3 on Tokyo MX and BS11 ,
as well as on ABEMA and d Anime Store . Crunchyroll is
streaming the series with an English dub simultaneously with the Japanese
premiere.
A story
of overcoming from the shadows
Based on
the original novel by Sakaku Hishikawa and illustrated
by Daburyu , the anime tells the story of the hard life
of Zenos , a young man born into poverty who is expelled from
his group of adventurers for being considered useless. Far from giving up, he
sets up an illegal clinic in the underworld and begins to heal
with extraordinary abilities, earning himself the nickname "brilliant
healer."
The film is
directed by Joe Yoshizaki at Makaria Inc. ,
with scripts by Taika Miyagi and character designs by Denpūōgi and Yoshihiro
Sawada . The music is composed by Harumi Fuuki , and
the opening theme song, "Light Maker" is performed
by the band bokula. , while the ending theme song, "Tsuki
ni Negau" is performed by sorato .
A
growing franchise
The project
was born on the Shōsetsu ni Narō platform and currently
has eight volumes published under the GA Bunko label
, in addition to four volumes of the manga and a new webtoon
adaptation launched in the summer of 2024. The J-Novel Club publishing
house distributes both the novels and the manga in English.
With the
start of this new arc, Yami Healer consolidates itself as one
of the most interesting proposals of the year, merging dark fantasy , medical
drama and personal improvement in a world that never
welcomed its protagonist.
