Distributor  GKIDS announced Thursday that it has acquired the rights to release the Jujutsu Kaisen compilation film , titled Hidden Inventory / Premature Death (in Japanese, “Kaigyoku / Gyokusetsu”) in U.S. theaters.

This feature film brings together the episodes corresponding to the first arc of the second season of the anime and will hit US theaters on July 16 , available in both subtitled and dubbed English formats .

A look into Gojo and Geto's past

The "Hidden Inventory / Untimely Death" arc focuses on the story of Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto during their youth, when they were still students and friends. This part of the story delves into the origins of their bond, as well as the events that led them down opposing paths.

The film will open first in Japan on May 30 , and will feature a new theme song performed by Tatsuya Kitani : an acoustic version of “ Ao no Sumika ,” the original opening song for the second season.

An epic season that continues to expand

The second season of Jujutsu Kaisen premiered in July 2023 and aired continuously for half a year, covering both the “Hidden Inventory / Untimely Death” and “Shibuya Incident” arcs , two of the most important in the original manga.

The series was streamed simultaneously on Crunchyroll in both Japanese and English dubbed versions. A third season has also been confirmed, adapting the highly anticipated "Elimination Game" (Shimetsu Kaiyū) arc, which will once again be animated by MAPPA .

A global phenomenon that does not stop

Since its debut in October 2020, the franchise based on Gege Akutami 's manga has grown steadily. The original anime ran for 24 episodes , and in December 2021, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 , a prequel film that also premiered in theaters in the US and Canada in March 2022, hit theaters.

The manga, which began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in March 2018, ended in September 2024. It is currently published in English by Viz Media , both in physical and digital formats, while Shueisha offers it on its MANGA Plus platform .

With each new installment, Jujutsu Kaisen reaffirms its position as one of the most important franchises in contemporary anime.
