Acclaimed
artist Kenshi Yonezu has released a music video for his
song "BOW AND ARROW," the opening theme song for
the anime Medalist. This video, made in collaboration with publisher
Kodansha, offers limited animation based on Tsurumaikada's original
manga, allowing fans to see how the story comes to life in an intimate and
emotional way.
Voices
from the anime also present in the video
The music
video not only features scenes from the manga in motion, but also features the
original voices from the anime: Natsumi Haruse as Inori,
the young promise of figure skating, and Takeo Otsuka as Tsukasa,
her passionate coach. Both actors lend their voices to enrich the audiovisual
experience of this special collaboration.
A
high-level production team
The Medalist anime
is directed by Yasutaka Yamamoto (Servant x Service)
at the ENGI studio. The series is composed by Jukki
Hanada (Sound! Euphonium), character design by Chinatsu
Kameyama (In Another World With My Smartphone 2) and music
by Yuki Hayashi (Haikyu!!). The series is
currently streaming on Hulu in the United States and on
Disney+ internationally.
The
dream on the ice continues
Based on
the manga by Tsurumaikada, Medalist tells the
story of Tsukasa, a former skater whose aspirations were dashed,
and Inori, an aimless girl who finds in the ice a reason to
continue. United by passion and sacrifice, both fight to reach the
world championships.
The
production has already confirmed plans for a second season, which
augurs more emotional and competitive moments in this intense sports drama.
