Japanese History Not Very Useful podcast will have anime adaptation

Last Monday, the anime adaptation of the popular podcast Anmari Yaku ni Tatanai Nihonshi (known in English as Japanese History Not Very Useful) was confirmed. This new animated series will have 15-minute episodes and will premiere on the Hokkaido Broadcasting channel on June 29 at 10:30 p.m. (Spanish time, UTC+2). After its broadcast, it will be available to the public on YouTube.


A unique podcast about Japanese history


Anmari Yaku ni Tatanai Nihonshi is a podcast program that explores those aspects of Japanese history that are not usually taught in school, but are fascinating to share. The lead vocals are comedian and history buff Syrup Junpei. As of June 13, the podcast has a total of 135 episodes and is available on platforms such as Apple PodcastsSpotify, and Amazon Music.


Acknowledgments and publication of the book


This show won an Award of Excellence at last year's Japan Podcast Awards, highlighting its impact on cultural outreach. In addition, Kasama Shoin published a book based on the podcast titled Okagesama Zukan: Sugoi Hito mo Hitori ja Nanni mo Dekinakatta (Illustrated Guide Thanks to You: Even Great People Can't Do Anything Alone), released in Japan on November 25.
