TOHO
Animation has
released the first teaser trailer for the eighth and final season of My
Hero Academia, confirming that the long-awaited closing of the story will
arrive in October 2024. The new installment will mark the outcome
of the journey of Deku and his companions, adapting the last
events of the original manga.
The series
will be broadcast in Japan and Crunchyroll will distribute it worldwide (except
in Asia) simultaneously. This will allow fans around the world to experience
the end of the franchise in real-time.
A
special event will anticipate the new season
On July
5, 2024, an exclusive event entitled "My Hero Academia Special
Event" will be held at the Anime Expo in Los Angeles,
from 7:00 p.m. to 8:20 p.m. (Spain time). Daiki Yamashita and Justin
Briner, the Japanese and English voices of Deku, will participate, as well
as an editor from Shonen Jump and a special message
from author Kōhei Horikoshi will be shown.
The
production team is maintained
The eighth
season will once again be in the hands of the talented team that has
accompanied the series in its previous installments. Kenji Nagasaki returns
as CEO, along with Naomi Nakayama as director. Also returning
are Yōsuke Kuroda in scripts, Yoshihiko Umakoshi and Hitomi
Odashima in character design, Yuki Hayashi in music
and the BONES studio in animation.
A
Successfully Built Path
The seventh
season debuted in May 2024, following a four-episode compilation special
titled "My Hero Academia Memories," which included
new scenes. The series originally began in 2016, and has cemented a strong
global fan base.
The
manga reached its end and exceeds 100 million copies
Kōhei
Horikoshi's original
manga concluded in August 2024 with 42 compilation volumes,
the last of which was released on December 4 including 38
unpublished pages after the original ending. Globally, the work has
already exceeded 100 million copies in circulation.
The
universe continues with new projects
In addition
to the main series, the spin-off My Hero Academia: Vigilantes began
airing in April 2024, also available on Crunchyroll with
dubbing included. On the other hand, the fourth film, My Hero Academia:
You're Next, was released in Japan in August 2023 and hit theaters in the
U.S. on October 11. Its physical edition was released on February 19 and
includes an animated short titled "A Piece of Cake."
