TOHO Animation has released the first teaser trailer for the eighth and final season of My Hero Academia, confirming that the long-awaited closing of the story will arrive in October 2024. The new installment will mark the outcome of the journey of Deku and his companions, adapting the last events of the original manga.

The series will be broadcast in Japan and Crunchyroll will distribute it worldwide (except in Asia) simultaneously. This will allow fans around the world to experience the end of the franchise in real-time.

A special event will anticipate the new season

On July 5, 2024, an exclusive event entitled "My Hero Academia Special Event" will be held at the Anime Expo in Los Angeles, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:20 p.m. (Spain time). Daiki Yamashita and Justin Briner, the Japanese and English voices of Deku, will participate, as well as an editor from Shonen Jump and a special message from author Kōhei Horikoshi will be shown.

The production team is maintained

The eighth season will once again be in the hands of the talented team that has accompanied the series in its previous installments. Kenji Nagasaki returns as CEO, along with Naomi Nakayama as director. Also returning are Yōsuke Kuroda in scripts, Yoshihiko Umakoshi and Hitomi Odashima in character design, Yuki Hayashi in music and the BONES studio in animation.

A Successfully Built Path

The seventh season debuted in May 2024, following a four-episode compilation special titled "My Hero Academia Memories," which included new scenes. The series originally began in 2016, and has cemented a strong global fan base.

The manga reached its end and exceeds 100 million copies

Kōhei Horikoshi's original manga concluded in August 2024 with 42 compilation volumes, the last of which was released on December 4 including 38 unpublished pages after the original ending. Globally, the work has already exceeded 100 million copies in circulation.

The universe continues with new projects

In addition to the main series, the spin-off My Hero Academia: Vigilantes began airing in April 2024, also available on Crunchyroll with dubbing included. On the other hand, the fourth film, My Hero Academia: You're Next, was released in Japan in August 2023 and hit theaters in the U.S. on October 11. Its physical edition was released on February 19 and includes an animated short titled "A Piece of Cake."
