The mystery
series revealed
a new promotional trailer on Sunday introducing its next story
arc, titled "Tōki Gentei Bonbon Chocolat Jiken" (The
Case of the Winter Limited Edition Chocolate Bonbons). The new chapter will
begin airing on May 24 at 6:30 p.m. (UTC+2) with episode
18 of the second season.
The
creative team repeats its successful formula
This new
arc confirms the return of much of the technical team that has
maintained the series' high production level. Mamoru Kanbe (Elfen
Lied, The Promised Neverland) continues as director at the Lapin Track studio
, while Toshiya Ono once again oversees the scripts. The
character designs are in the hands of Atsushi Saitō (Love
Live! Superstar!!), and Takahiro Obata returns as composer.
The team is
completed with names such as Mayu Gushiken (subcharacter
design and animation direction), Yuki Akimoto in color
design, Akira Itō as artistic director, Tomoyuki Aoki in
setting, and many more who reinforce the visual and sound quality of the
project.
A story
of ordinary appearances, but extraordinary mysteries
The plot
follows Jōgorō Kobato , a young man who, after a painful
experience, decides to lead a quiet, ordinary life. Along the way, he teams up
with Yuki Osanai , who shares his desire to fly under the
radar. However, their attempts to stay out of the chaos constantly fail as they
find themselves embroiled in case after case.
This second
season adapts the novels Shūki Gentei Kuri Kinton Jiken (The
Case of the Autumn Limited Edition Candied Chestnuts) and Tōki Gentei
Bonbon Chocolat Jiken . The first season adapted the spring and summer
stories Ichigo Tart Jiken (Strawberry Tart) and Tropical
Parfait Jiken (Tropical Parfait), published by Honobu Yonezawa ,
also known for the Kotenbu series.
The cast
expands with new characters
Along with
the new arc, new voices are added to the cast. Teppei Uenishi will
play Takahiko Urino , Yume Miyamoto will
play Tokiko Nakamaru and Seiichirō Yamashita joins
as Yūto Hiya .
The
second season has been airing every Saturday on TV Asahi's NUMAnimation block since April
5 , and is also available for streaming through ABEMA . Crunchyroll continues
to stream the series simultaneously for the rest of the world.
With each
new case tied to a seasonal treat, Shoshimin continues to
explore the fine line between the ordinary and the extraordinary with a
carefully woven narrative and captivating visual style.
