Sweet
competition in Mariland
History
unfolds in the magical world of Mariland, home to both
protagonists. My Melody open a pastry shop after finding a
mysterious heart in the woods, which unleashes strange events around
him. Meanwhile, Kuromi He struggles to attract customers to
his Japanese candy store, located right in front.
Both decide
to participate in a pastry contest to be judged by the
legendary pastry chef Pistachio. However, what starts as a friendly
competition will trigger a event that will put all Mariland at risk.
A tribute for a double game
The series
commemorates two important dates: the 50th anniversary of My Melody and
the 20th anniversary of Kuromi, characters that have accompanied
generations of fans since their debut.
The project
is led by Tomoki Misato, known for his work in Pui Pui
Molcar, and has a script Shūko Nemoto. Production is carried
out by TORUKU under the umbrella of WIT STUDIO.
The series will consist of 12 episodes, with an approximate
duration of 13 minutes each.
Sanrio
expands the universe of its characters
My Melody's
legacy includes several anime series like Onegai My Melody (
2005 ), Kuru Kuru Shuffle! ( 2006 ), Sukkiri (
2007 ) and Kirara ( 2008 ). He also had his own movie in
2012: Onegai My Melody Yū & Ai.
For his
part, Kuromi has gained popularity in recent years thanks to
the series Kuromi’s Pretty Journey, released on YouTube and TikTok
in 2023, followed by its continuation ~ Hachamecha! Multiverse
Dasshutsu!~, which arrived in October of the same year with simultaneous
dubbing in English.
With this
new production, Sanrio and Netflix bet on an endearing and visually
innovative narrative to unite nostalgia and new generations.
