Kyoto
Animation studio
on Wednesday shared a new promotional video for the film Miss
Kobayashi's Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants to be Loved (Kobayashi-san
Chi no Maid Dragon: Samishigariya no Ryū). The trailer focuses on the intense
battle scenes that will be a central part of this new cinematic
installment.
Release date and international distribution
The film
will hit Japanese theaters on Friday, June 27, screening in 199
theaters across the country. In addition, it will have special
functions in 4DX and MX4D format for an even more immersive
experience. An anticipated screening took place on May 26 in
Japan.
On the
other hand, Crunchyroll has acquired the theatrical
distribution rights for the entire world (except Asia) and confirmed
that the film will be screened in North America in Japanese with
English subtitles.
A
franchise that does not stop growing
The
original manga, the work of Coolkyoushinja, began publication in
May 2013 in Monthly Action magazine and moved to Manga
Action in February 2024. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes
the manga and its numerous English-language spinoffs, including:

The first
animated adaptation by Kyoto Animation debuted in January
2017, and its second season, Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid S,
premiered in July 2021. Both were streamed by Crunchyroll and Funimation,
with the latter releasing the physical editions on Blu-ray and DVD.
The second
season also featured a special unreleased episode included in the "Volume
S" volume, released in January 2022.
With this
new movie, Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid promises to expand her
universe with an extra dose of action, thrills, and adorable... and explosive
dragons!
