During its
panel at the Anime Expo, Aniplex of America announced
that the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime will have a Blu-ray
Disc release in North America on October 28 (local
time, UTC-7). Pre-sales will begin on August 26.
This
limited edition will include exclusive content such as a new cover
artwork, an art book, the full storyboard for episode
10, a commemorative poster for the second anniversary, and
a cel-like print, evoking the traditional style of animation.
Global
launches in 2025
In addition
to the North American release, Aniplex confirmed that the series will arrive on
Blu-ray to other regions in 2025. In Latin America it
will also be distributed by Aniplex, while Anime Limited and Plaion
Pictures will be in charge of the European market. Distributor Sugoi
Co will take it to Australia and New Zealand, and DEX will
follow suit in Thailand.
The company
announced that prices and details of the various editions available
for each region will be revealed soon.
A
phenomenon born from video games
Cyberpunk:
Edgerunners was
produced by Studio Trigger and premiered on Netflix in
September 2022. The story is based on the universe of the Cyberpunk
2077 video game, developed by CD PROJEKT RED, which in
turn is inspired by the classic tabletop role-playing game created by Mike
Pondsmith.
The Blu-ray
will include audio in Japanese and English, and subtitles in Japanese,
English, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese.
Cyberpunk:
Edgerunners continues to expand its universe
The
franchise continues to grow with the release of the Cyberpunk:
Edgerunners Madness manga, illustrated by Asano (BNA:
Brand New Animal) and written by Bartosz Sztybor (CD
PROJEKT RED). This manga, which acts as a prequel to the anime,
debuted on the Comic Alive+ website in December and is being
published in seven languages in addition to Japanese.
The publisher Dark Horse is in charge of its distribution in
physical format in English.
