The popular
comedy My Stepmother and Stepsisters Aren't Wicked, which
puts an unexpected twist on the typical "evil stepmother" tale, has
confirmed its anime adaptation for 2026. The news was revealed this
Tuesday through a teaser trailer and a promotional
illustration where we see the young protagonist Miya with
her peculiar adoptive family.
An
up-and-coming cast and an endearing story
So far,
only one cast member has been confirmed: veteran voice actress Kujira,
known for playing Orochimaru in Naruto and Amanda
Waller in Suicide Squad ISEKAI. She will play Teru,
Miya's imposing but adorable stepmother, a role she has also played in the
promotional video for the manga's first print volume.
Celebration
by the author and future of the project
To
commemorate this announcement, original author Otsuji shared
a special illustration with her fans. In addition, an official
website and an account on X (formerly Twitter) have been opened to
follow all the news of the series. More details about the production
team and the rest of the cast are expected to be
revealed in the coming months.
A comedy
that defies prejudice
The story
follows Miya, the illegitimate daughter of an influential family
who, after the death of her mother, believes that her destiny will be to live
under the yoke of a cruel stepmother and abusive stepsisters. However, the
reality surprises her: her new family turns out to be kind, attentive
and loving, completely dismantling the classic stereotype.
The play is
officially published in English by Seven Seas Entertainment, and
has gained popularity thanks to its positive and fresh approach. With its anime
adaptation on the way, My Stepmother and Stepsisters Aren't Wicked promises
to be one of the most endearing comedies of 2026.
