This
Saturday, the September issue of Kadokawa's Shōnen Ace magazine
revealed that renowned author Suu Minazuki will release a new
manga titled Saigo no Negai ni Tsuki ga Naku (translated
as The Moon Cries at My Last Wish) in the magazine's next
issue on August 26.
A story
of childhood, darkness and blood
The play is
presented as a tale of humans versus vampires, and follows two
childhood friends, Niizuki and Asahi, who live on
a small island. Asahi, normally fearful of the night, decides to attend a
summer night festival in his village. There, by accident, he breaks the
seal of an ancient shrine, unleashing an enigmatic vampire of angelic
beauty... who quickly transforms the celebration into a bloody massacre.
Minazuki
continues to explore the supernatural
This new
project comes shortly after the end of the Excellent Property manga,
Rejects for Residents, which concluded in August 2024 and
whose fifth volume was published in October of the same year. That
work, also serialized in Shōnen Ace, began in December 2022 and was
distributed in English by Yen Press.
An
author with a well-known legacy
Suu
Minazuki is
best known for having created Sora no Otoshimono (also known
as Heaven's Lost Property), published between 2007 and 2014,
and which spawned two anime series, two films, and an OVA. His background also
includes works such as Dokunie Cooking (2017–2019) and Judas,
published in English by Tokyopop and later by Viz
Media.
With Saigo
no Negai ni Tsuki ga Naku, the author promises a story full of intense
emotions, supernatural mysteries and tragedy, framed by the beauty of a moon
that observes in silence.
