The creator
of the acclaimed manga Love's in Sight!, Uoyama, will
return this month with a new work titled Kimi to Issho ni Kayoitai (translated
as I want to go to school with you), as revealed by Hakusensha's Young
Animal magazine in its 14th issue published on July 11.
The manga
will officially premiere in the next issue of the magazine, scheduled for Thursday,
July 25, and will feature a color home page. The magazine
describes the story as a "strong but kind" friendship drama,
centered on a person willing to fight for a single, deep desire.
A new
chapter in the author's career
Uoyama
shared a promotional image of the new project through his official account
in X (formerly Twitter) on the same day of the announcement,
generating great expectation among his followers.
This new
work marks the return of the author after having recently finished the
manga Kogure Kyōdai no Tomurai Kissa (The Kogure brothers'
requiem coffee), published on Shinchosha's Kurage Bunch site
between January 2024 and January 10 of this year. The
publisher published its third and final compilation volume on May 9.
The
marked legacy of Love's in Sight!
Uoyama
achieved popularity with his best-known work, Yankee-kun to Hakujō Girl (Love's
in Sight!), a manga that began publication on pixiv, Nico
Nico Seiga and Manga Hack in June 2018.
The series ended in February 2022 and was collected in eight
volumes, with the last one released in May 2022 by Kodansha.
The
publisher Viz Media was in charge of licensing the manga in
English and its final volume will be published on September 3, 2024.
With Kimi to Issho ni Kayoitai, Uoyama seems keen to explore deep
emotions from a more mature perspective, while maintaining his signature style
focused on human bonds. The release promises to be one of the outstanding
titles of the summer in the Japanese manga scene.
