Following
the premiere of its first episode on July 12, anime
TOUGEN ANKI officially shared the uncredited version of its
opening sequence. The animation, marked by intense red tones and unbridled
action, is accompanied by the song "OVERNIGHT", performed
by the band THE ORAL CIGARETTES.
A battle
of blood and promising legacy
The anime
adapts Yura Urushibara's original manga, published by Akita
Shoten in the Weekly Shonen Champion magazine.
Overseas, Yen Press publishes the series under the title Tougen
Anki: Legend of the Cursed Blood.
The story
revolves around Shiki Ichinose, a young man who suddenly discovers
his demonic lineage (Oni) after being attacked by a member of
the Momotaro. From that moment on, he is drawn into an ancestral war between
two factions: the Oni, descendants of demons, and the Momotaro, his hunters.
Both bloodlines have existed in secret for centuries, sustaining a hidden
conflict within humanity. Shiki must face her destiny, master the powers that
lie in her blood, and uncover the secret of her true identity.
A large
high-caliber production team
The
animated adaptation is directed by Ato Nonaka at Hibari Studio,
with Hiroyuki Hashimoto as assistant director. Yukie
Sugawara is in charge of the composition and scripts of the
series, Ryoko Amisaki of the character design, Scott
MacDonald of the art direction and KOHTA YAMAMOTO of
the soundtrack.
The series
is now available on Crunchyroll, which streams it for users in
various regions. A new generation of dark heroes has begun, and TOUGEN
ANKI promises a story full of intensity, conflict, and supernatural
darkness.
