The production team of the anime adaptation of the light novel Easygoing Territory Defense by the Optimistic Lord: Production Magic Turns a Nameless Village into the Strongest Fortified City (Okiraku Ryōshu no Tanoshii Ryōchi Bōei), written by Sou Akaike, revealed that the series will debut in 2026. Along with the date, the main cast that will bring the story to life was also confirmed.

Main cast confirmed

The protagonist Van, a Japanese salaried worker who is reincarnated in an aristocratic family and is considered a child prodigy, will be voiced by Yumi Uchiyama. For her part, M.A.O will play Till, Van's faithful personal maid, while Mariya Ise will play Khamsin, a character who develops an unwavering loyalty to Van after being saved by him.

A story of second chances

The plot follows Van, the fourth son of a powerful nobleman, who at the age of two recovers the memories of his past life in Japan. Although his intellect makes him stand out as a prodigy, his destiny changes at the age of eight when he manifests the ability of "Production Magic", considered useless in a family that reveres offensive magic. Rejected and sent to manage a small rural town, Van must prove that even a despised power can become the key to transforming a forgotten village into the most powerful fortress.

From web novel to publishing phenomenon

Sou Akaike originally published the story on the Shōsetsu ni Narō portal on May 15, 2020. Later, Overlap Bunko started the physical edition with Kururi's illustrations in September 2021. Currently, the series has eight volumes, the most recent being published on August 25, 2025.

The manga adaptation, by Maro Aoiro, began at Comic Gardo in August 2021 and already totals seven compilation volumes, with the last one released in Japan on April 25, 2025. In the West, the publisher Seven Seas holds the manga's license, thus bringing the work closer to international readers.
