The anime
adaptation of the light novel series "Even a Replica Can Fall in
Love" has revealed its first official teaser, a promotional
image, and key details of the cast that will be part of this unusual teen
romance. The premiere is scheduled for sometime in 2026.
In this
first preview we visualize Sunao Aikawa, a high school student,
next to Nao, her artificial replica. This story raises an
intriguing premise: Can a replica programmed to replace someone experience
genuine feelings?
Sumire
Morohoshi will play both leads
Renowned
voice actress Sumire Morohoshi (Emma in The
Promised Neverland, Nemu Hiiragi in Magic Record)
has been confirmed as the interpreter of both Sunao and her
replica Nao.
The team
behind the project
The anime
will be directed by Ryuichi Kimura (Aikatsu!) at the
Voil studio. The series will be composed by Tomoko Shinozuka (Wotakoi:
Love Is Hard for Otakus), who will collaborate with Misaki Morie (Ranma
1/2 2024) on the scripts. Eiji Abiko (Cells at Work!
CODE BLACK) will be in charge of character design.
A story
that questions what it means to be "real"
The
original novel, written by Harunadon and illustrated by raemz,
is still being published today. It also has a manga adaptation illustrated
by Momose Hanada. In the story, Nao, Sunao's replica,
has been created to impersonate her when she is unable to attend classes. But
everything changes when Nao begins to develop feelings for a boy who
can only tell her apart by the way she wears her hair. This unexpected bond
drives her to take control of her own emotional life, despite being "a
copy".
Illustrator raemz has
also shared a commemorative illustration to celebrate the announcement of the
anime, capturing the melancholic and hopeful atmosphere of the story.
"Even
a Replica Can Fall in Love" is shaping up to be one of the most unique and emotional romantic
proposals on the anime scene in 2026. More details about its exact release date
and additional cast are expected soon.
