Kadokawa's Gundam Ace magazine
announced in its October issue that the Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative (Kidō
Senshi Gundam NT) manga, written and illustrated by Kōzō Ōmori,
published its final chapter on Tuesday. The play had already entered its
"last battle" in July 2023, anticipating its outcome.
A
journey of almost six years
Ōmori began
serialization in November 2018 in Gundam Ace magazine. Since
then, the story has been compiled in 15 volumes, the most recent being
published on June 25 in Japan. With this closure, one of the
most outstanding adaptations of the franchise in recent years is over.
The
legacy of anime and its arrival in the West
The
original project was born as an animated film released in November 2018
in Japan. In the West, Right Stuf and Nozomi
Entertainment released the film on Blu-ray, first with a special
edition in 2020 and later with a new edition in June 2022. In theaters in the
United States, it was screened in February 2019 with English
dubbing produced by NYAV Post and Sunrise.
The
Story of Gundam Narrative
The plot is
set in the year U.C. 0097, just one year after the events of
"Laplace's Box". Although the rights of the Newtypes were
revealed, the political balance of the world did not change significantly. The
Laplace incident seemed to have ended with the fall of the Neo Zeon remnants,
known as the Sleeves. However, a new conflict arises when the RX-0
Unicorn Gundam 03 Phenex reappears, a golden unit that had disappeared
two years earlier and threatens to change the course of history again.
