Aniplex announced that Rilakkuma, San-X's iconic
mascot, will have a new anime in short format scheduled
for release in April 2026. Along with the announcement, the first
promotional image was presented and the main members of the creative team were
revealed.
Adorable
characters return
The anime's
official site also opened its doors showing the appearance of the endearing
characters that will return to the screen:
- Rilakkuma: a sloth bear who enjoys life
without haste.
- Korilakkuma: A mischievous white bear cub
who loves to play pranks.
- Kiiroitori: A diligent yellow bird, known
for being responsible and for his penchant for saving money.
- Chairoi Koguma: a royal bear that lives in the Honey Forest and gives off a sweet aroma.
A
top-notch creative team
Production
will be handled by Production I.G, under the direction of Yoshimi
Itazu and Yumi Kamakura. Character design falls to Chiyo
Morita, while music will be composed by Kōta Yokoseki, Yoshiya
Ikeda, and Mizuki Kanno, with Legendoor overseeing
the music production. In addition, Keiko Matsushita will serve
as an animation producer.
Singer Lilas
Ikuta, vocalist of YOASOBI, will perform the title track
titled "stay with me," bringing an emotional touch
to the new release.
Rilakkuma's
Anime Career
Rilakkuma
was created in 2003 by Aki Kondo for San-X and has since
become a cultural phenomenon. In 2019, Netflix released the
series Rilakkuma and Kaoru, followed by Rilakkuma's Theme
Park Adventure in 2022, both in stop-motion animation. Now, the
beloved bear will return in a new format that promises to conquer fans again.
