Anime adaptation of the Shabake historical fantasy novel series unveiled a new trailer focused on its protagonist, Ichitaro (voiced by Daiki Yamashita). The trailer also includes a sneak peek of Kujira's opening theme, titled "Inochi no Parade" ("Parade of Life").

will air within Fuji TV's popular Noitamina block
starting in October 2025, offering fans a new historical take with
supernatural overtones.

The
production is in charge of the BN Pictures studio under the
direction of Takahiro Okawa. The composition of the series is in
the hands of Toko Machida, while Akari Minagawa designs
the characters and Rei Ishizuka composes the soundtrack. The
original work is published in Japan by Shinchosha and written
by Megumi Hatakenaka.
A look at promotional art
The anime's
main art shows Ichitaro sitting on a tatami mat in a formal position,
accompanied by his two supernatural servants: Nikichi and Sasuke,
who open sliding paper doors to welcome the viewer. The illustration also
features three small spirits that playfully hide around them.
Mystery
story in the Edo era
Set in
the Edo period, the plot follows Ichitaro, heir to the prestigious
Nagasakiya store in Nihonbashi. Although he was born with fragile health that
prevents him from going outside, he is protected and accompanied by spirits
such as Sasuke (an inugami) and Nikichi (a
hakutaku). Everything changes when, after escaping from his home one night, he
witnesses a murder. From that moment on, he embarks on a dangerous
investigation to discover the culprit with the help of his supernatural
companions.
