Star Wars: Visions Volume 3 Reveals New Trailer and Surprising Shorts

During its panel at Anime NYCLucasfilm unveiled a new visual for Star Wars: Visions Volume 3, the acclaimed anthology that blends the Star Wars galaxy with the talent of leading Japanese animation studios.

Premiere and participating studios


Volume 3 will debut on Disney+ on October 29, 2025, offering nine animated short films created by different studios in Japan. Among those returning are Kamikaze DougaKinema CitrusProduction I.G and Trigger. They are joined by new names such as ANIMA (in co-production with Kamikaze Douga), david productionPolygon PicturesProject Studio Q and Wit Studio.

In addition, this volume will take up the stories of three of the most popular shorts of the first: The DuelVillage Bride and The Ninth Jedi.


Projections and revelations


The event premiered "Black", a short film directed, written and animated by Shinya Ōhira at David Production, on which he worked for three years.


Director Takanobu Mizuno confirmed the return of the Ronin in "The Duel: Payback," where he will face a Jedi Grandmaster and could ally with a Sith. Takashi Okazaki returns as a character designer, including a Wookiee and the insectoid Huk.


For his part, Hitoshi Haga teased that the story of "The Village Bride" will continue in "The Lost Ones," following the enigmatic F after Order 66.


New shorts and directors


  • "The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope" – directed by Naoyoshi Shiotani, chronicles a war before Kara's birth.
  • "Yuko's Treasure" – by Masaki Tachibana, focuses on the girl Yuko and her guardian android in the form of a giant bear on Tatooine.
  • "The Smuggler" – by Masahiko Otsuka (Trigger), tells the adventure of a young thief inspired by Han Solo.
  • "The Bounty Hunters" – by Ken Yamamoto (Wit Studio), follows hunters Sevn and IV-AH4 on a dangerous mission.
  • "The Song of Four Wings" – by Hiroyasu Kobayashi (Project Studio Q), starring a princess and her R2-type droid that can transform into a combat suit.
  • "Bird of Paradise" – by Tadahiro Yoshihira (Polygon Pictures), explores Star Wars' connection to the mythology and symbolism of sacred trees.

The Evolution of Star Wars: Visions


The first volume was released in September 2021, followed by the second in May 2023, featuring shorts from studios around the world. In November 2023Studio Ghibli surprised with the short film "Zen - Grogu and Dust Bunnies", reinforcing the versatility of the project.


With this new installment, Star Wars: Visions promises to push the boundaries of animation even further, offering new stories that intertwine the tradition of anime with the strength of the galactic saga.
