The
official website of the Sumikko Gurashi franchise, inspired by
the adorable characters created by the Japanese company San-X, presented
the main trailer and a new visual for its fourth film: Eiga
Sumikko Gurashi: Sora no Okoku to Futari no Ko (Sumikko Gurashi The
Movie: The Sky Kingdom and Two Children).
The video
confirms that the theme song will be "Kimi no Kasa" ("Your
Umbrella"), performed by singer Kaela Kimura, who also wrote
the lyrics.
The
message behind the song
Kimura
explained that her song reflects the feelings of Sumikko Gurashi's characters,
who often have insecurities or feel different. However, thanks to the support
of their friends, they manage to move forward little by little. The artist
commented: "It's okay to have weaknesses or doubts, but together
with your friends you can overcome everything. I hope this song gives courage
to those who listen to it and encourages them to accept themselves as they
are."
Release
and production date
The film
will be released in theaters in Japan on October 31, 2025. As in
previous installments, the animation is in charge of Fanworks,
under the direction of Naomi Iwata and with a script by Takashi
Sumita (Europe Kikaku). Yoshihiko Inohara and Manani
Honjo will serve as narrators of the story.
An
Adventure in the Kingdom of Heaven
The story
begins with a constant rain in the village of the Sumikkos, which
even affects the fried couple Tonkatsu and Ebifurai no
Shippo. One day, something unexpected falls from the sky: an Ouji (prince)
from the Kingdom of Heaven. There, a severe water shortage
threatens to put all the inhabitants at risk. To save the kingdom, the Sumikkos will
embark on a new and endearing adventure among the clouds.
With a
style that combines tenderness and warmth, this fourth installment promises to
become a magical experience for the whole family.
