Crunchyroll has recently added two new
cinematic installments of the popular Rascal Does Not Dream saga
to its platform. They are Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing
Out and Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid, both
available with dubbing and subtitles in Spanish.
The
Story of Sister Venturing Out
This film
adapts Hajime Kamoshida's eighth novel and was released in
Japan in June 2023 under the direction of Soichi Masui and
the animation of CloverWorks. In it, Sakuta Azusagawa faces
his last term as a sophomore, while sharing his last days at Minegahara High
School with his girlfriend Mai Sakurajima. However, his younger
sister, Kaede, confesses a wish that will change their lives: she
wants to attend the same school as him. Sakuta, aware of how difficult it
is for her, decides to support her in this important decision.
The plot of Knapsack Kid
Based on
the ninth novel in the series, Knapsack Kid was released in
Japan in December 2023 with the same crew and cast as the
previous film. The story begins in March, a month before Mai's graduation.
While Sakuta is waiting for her on Shichirigahama beach, a girl who looks like
Mai when she was a child actress appears. At the same time, her father tells
her that her mother wants to see Kaede after years without contact. This family
reunion stirs up tensions, and to make matters worse, Sakuta begins to
suffer mysterious marks on his body, possible signs of a new type
of puberty syndrome.
The
franchise continues to grow
In addition
to these two new films, Crunchyroll offers in its
catalog Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai, Rascal
Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl and the series Rascal Does
Not Dream of Santa Claus, currently airing as part of the summer
2025 anime season.
