Chapter
number 149 of the Ultraman manga, written by Eiichi
Shimizu and illustrated by Tomohiro Shimoguchi, confirmed
that the series will enter a period of rest to resume publication in the spring
of 2026, at which time it will begin its long-awaited final arc.
Story
behind the new Ultraman
The work
reimagines the legacy of the Giant of Light, who decades ago
joined Shin Hayata to protect Earth from the threat of the
fearsome Kaiju. With the passage of time, peace seems assured, but
a new darkness emerges in the shadows. Now, fate falls on Shinjiro,
Hayata's son, who inherits the "Ultraman Factor" and
discovers that he possesses superhuman abilities that will change his life
forever.
A
success with more than a decade of experience
The manga
was released in 2011 within Monthly Hero's magazine,
created by the duo also known as Linebarrels of Iron. Since then,
it has established itself as one of the most representative works of Tsuburaya
Productions in the publishing field. Shogakukan released
the 21st compilation volume on February 5, while Viz Media released
the 20th volume in English in December 2024.
Animated
adaptation on Netflix
The manga's
popularity led to the production of a 3D CG adaptation directed by Kenji
Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki, in collaboration with Production
I.G. The series premiered globally in April 2019 via Netflix,
receiving two additional seasons in April 2022 and May
2024, where it concluded with the installment titled Ultraman Final.
